A Case of Open Safety Pin in Nasal Cavity


Abstract
The foreign bodies of nasal cavities are not uncommon in otolaryngologic field, though it may not be. reported as much as foreign bodies of ¢¥bronchus and esophagus because foreign bodies of nasal cavities are easily removed at home and traumatic risks of ruthless tearing out of the foreign bodies are not so great.
Types of foreign bodies of nasal cavities are generally classified to animate foreign bodies and the inanimate foreign bodies. Inanimate objects may remain undetected for many weeks, or many years. Animate objects often cause local irritation.
Authors have recently experienced 3 years old female who hadd suffered from a open safety pin in left nasal cavity for, 4 months, which was anchored to nasal floor between nasal septum and inferior turbinate and it was easily removed with holding of the bothend of pin with hemostats under Ketamine anesthesia.
